It also makes the bowel movement smooth and regular. If you refrain from taking any water during meals, there are chances you might end up with constipation.

Drinking a couple of glasses of water at-least fifteen minutes before meals can curb your appetite. This will stop you from over-indulging in your food. A study conducted by the American Chemical Society involved 48 adults between the ages of 55 and 75 years. These adults were divided into two groups. One group drank two cups of water before every meal while the other didn’t. All the test subjects were on a low-calorie diet during the study, which lasted for a period of 12 weeks. The people who drank water before meals lost 15 pounds by the end of the study period while those who didn’t lost 11 pounds.
3. Strong Teeth
The strength of our teeth is something we don’t think much of. And especially not when we are munching something delicious. Believe it or not, sipping water while dining can keep our teeth strong. According to the Australian Dental Association, the fluorides present in water are important for strong teeth. They also help prevent cavities and tooth decay.
Consumption of water during meals does have certain benefits. But it all depends on how much you consume. A few sips of water while you eat might yield the desired benefits. But gulping down too much of water will have serious repercussions.
Drinking too much of water during meals can dilute your blood. This will result in the imbalance of electrolytes present in the blood. This leads to a condition called hyponatremia.
Excessive water consumption in between meals can lead to digestive problems as well. The gastric juice inside the stomach which is responsible for the breaking down of food can also get diluted. This can lead to acid reflux and heartburn.
